Born into this world too soon It was a shock, this wasn’t right Attached to monitors, wires and tubes You began your fight for life I came to see you every day Each time wishing I could stay longer But Mummy and Emily needed me While you were growing ever stronger I’d hold you in my arms sometimes And you’d look up at me I’d tell you that you’d soon be home Loved by your family There was so much that we would do So much I wanted you to see I thought we’d have a lifetime But it was not to be You became very sick one night The doctors did their best But your fight to live was ending It was time to let you rest Your mummy and I held you close Heartbroken wishing you could stay We told you we would always love you As we watched you slip away I hope that you are happy now Wherever you may be There are no words to tell you Just how much you meant to me Except that if all of the love I feel for you inside Could have made a difference You never would have died xxxx
